It may act 2 ways:
A – Parallel connection with drive motor
The brake releases and applies whenever the motor is switched on and off. As its action is slower than the service brake, when the lining pads come in touch with the disc surface, the disc has been already stopped, hence no lining wear occurs. Just in emergency case, as the service brake isn’t able to stop the movement, the security brake will carry out its function as emergency stop brake.
B – Through separate connection with tachometric control.
The brake remains constantly released throughout the day, while the lifting installation is operating. Just whenever the tachometric dynamo detects an abnormal speed increase, it cause to switching off the thrustor, thereby bringing about the braking action..
